and the Rome Downtown Development Authority
bring the Fourth Annual Festival of Wreaths to Downtown Rome.
Rome’s beautiful Broad Street is now decorated with many lovely wreaths in support of NWGA Center for Independent Living’s Fourth Annual Festival of Wreaths Silent Auction Fundraiser. This year, the wreaths also come with gift certificates donated by many of the downtown businesses. Each of these wonderful wreaths have a value of $50 to $125, and would make a perfect gift for someone you know, or for your own home and enjoyment. To participate, come to one or more of the downtown businesses listed below and place bids. Keep checking back at the businesses and up your bids until the end of the fundraiser on Monday, December 16th. Please see the last page for a full list of the businesses displaying the wreaths and what gift certificates are associated with each wreath.
Downtown visitors and shoppers are invited to place bids on the forms provided by NWGA CIL at each wreath location. We suggest a starting bid of $20. Wreaths are on display, along with a list of gift certificate donors to each wreath, from Saturday, November 9th to Monday, December 16th.
The dozen beautiful and one-of-a-kind wreaths were designed and decorated by Marie Rice of Rome, and Sean Hogue of Summerville made the kudzu wreath forms. NWGA CIL is very grateful to both Marie and Sean for their donations of their talent, time and materials in these festive wreaths. We are also deeply appreciative of all the businesses who are displaying the wreaths and bid forms, and to those who have donated gift certificates.
This event began four years ago with a partnership between the Rome Downtown Development Authority and NWGA CIL (f.k.a. disABILITY LINK NW). The proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit NWGA CIL in its mission to empower people with disabilities of any type and of any age to achieve their goals to be more independent and part of their chosen community.
“Once again, we are privileged to partner with the Downtown Development Authority and downtown businesses with the Fourth Annual Festival of Wreaths,” said Maia Santamaria, Executive Director of NWGA CIL. ”In this blessed season: people in our community, with and without disabilities, see our beautiful downtown, the downtown retailers receive more customers, and more people with disabilities can benefit from the funds raised.”
